Canine

Dogs are unrivalled in their speed, accuracy and the ability to detect a wide range of threats from intruders, contraband and cash, to narcotics, explosives and firearms. A properly trained canine team is an invaluable addition to any security and risk management solution.

Armatus is a 50% shareholder in Armatus Risks Canine Services Ltd (ARCS) which is based in the East Midlands, delivering canine capability worldwide.  ARCS dog and handler teams are compliant with legislation and are all regularly assessed by the National Association of Security Dog Users (NASDU) for competence. The majority of our handlers are ex-servicemen who can operate globally, including in hostile and complex environments.

ARCS offers the following services:

General Purpose Dogs (GPD)

Dogs can detect hidden intruders from 300m, a skill that is of significant benefit on sites where effective human patrolling is costly.  A canine security patrol team is also both a deterrent and force multiplier in physical security and asset protection.

Explosive Detection Dogs (EDD)

Dogs used in explosive detection roles must be particularly well trained as the consequences of failure can be catastrophic. ARCS has a proven capacity to source EDD teams, thus giving reassurance for employers and customers and mitigating costly delays through the early detection and identification of suspect packages or potential false threats. ARCS provides EDD teams globally and can support operations in multiple sectors.

Drug Detection Dogs (DDD)

ARCS can supply specialist drug detection dogs fully qualified to the standards set by NASDU. Our DDD teams can be used in either a passive or proactive role screening people, vehicles or facilities.

Training

ARCS has its own purpose-built indoor and outdoor training facilities and delivers accredited training in ED and GP for both dogs and handlers.  Advanced training also takes place in facilities across the UK that represent different environments and scenarios that dog and handler may face.  Refresher courses for handlers are also run to ensure they maintain their high standards.
